Love Hina Vol 3: Secret Lives

Extras: The DVD contains the usual trailers and character bios, though I was disappointed that the bio’s didn’t contain original character artwork. There is an interview with director Yoshiaki Iwasaki in a part live action, part animated format. I cannot help but feel however that this was to flesh out the length by include LH footage.

9) The case of the Missing Hinata Apartment Money: A Mystery
A peaceful day at the Hinata apartment, Shinobu’s washing is fluttering in the breeze, Su’s sitting on the roof, Keitaro’s are flying through the air. But wait, the rent money has been stolen! From Keitaro’s unsecured room with paper walls. Who could be responsible? Su? Shinobu? Turtles? Naru? A strong breeze? Detectives Kitsune and Su will solve the case! Average shenanigans.

10) Who is the Beautiful Woman Wandering in the Moonlight: Transformation
Someone’s in Keitaro’s bed! Is it Naru? The heck! Su-Chan’s come for a wrestling cuddle, and Naru extracts vengeance. There’s a beautiful girl in the light of the red moon, and her pet alligator is eating people. Is it Su? Does she have a magical transformation to an adult form? And what are the romantic implications if she does? It all works out well in the end, and everyone winds up in the hot spring. Some tantalising hints about Su’s background, and we see a sensitive side. I only hope there some more development of her character later in the series.

11) The Idol Shooting for Tokyo U is a Prep School Student: Sing
There’s a pop contest organised by Kentaro (nice cameo dude) and Naru wins. Keitaro’s all drunken and jealous. But her idol career takes off widely. It turns out Keitaro makes a better creepy stalker fan than boyfriend. Except it all comes crashing down because of Naru being Keitaro’s bane. A Naru-Keitaro relationship and character development episode, with a great deal of humour. There’s a nice little subplot with the younger girls as a idol group, but its left a bit under developed.

12) Changing After the Wedding? Swordsman Motoko’s Sunday Best: Feminine
Does Motoko have a feminine side? She ‘s off form, and loses a challenge to Keitaro, and they make her all pretty and nice in a dress. Separately, things are going missing, and a turtle is responsible. But will the team be able to win the battle with Motoko weakened? Will the day be saved? Watch and find out? An excellent episode, full of moderately wacky humour and cliché.

Overall, the best disc so far. Let things continue this way, please.
